TIMERIDERS: THE MUSICAL SCORE

The band EssZed have just completed their new album; ten tracks inspired by the TimeRiders series. It’s a mixture of songs and instrumental pieces that evoke the themes, the characters and moments from the books. I listened to a sample copy of their album last week and quite honestly its astonishing how well they’ve managed to capture the ‘feeling’ of TimeRiders. (Their tracks are now on my iPod’s ‘Writing’ playlist!)

Anyway, to give you a taster, below is a link to a couple of their tracks.

1. ‘Chaos’ – As the name implies, it’s a piece written to conjure up images of  Chaos space. I love it. It reminds me just a bit of the opening titles of the scifi film; BladeRunner. Anyway…see what you think. So, headphones on and prepare to be transported to that scary place.

sample1 – Chaos

2. ’Maddy’s Theme (Try)’ – I think this song really sums up how trapped she feels in the role she’s been landed with. You’ll see what I mean. The track itself reminds me (vaguely) of the Stereophonics.

sample2 – Maddys Theme (Try)

(nb: FYI for audio tech-heads. Both tracks are in a low quality format so it doesn’t take an age to upload. But to be honest it doesn’t sound noticable.)

At the moment EssZed have no plans for releasing the album commercially. It’s just something they recorded for fun between gigs. But who knows, maybe we’ll see these tracks on itunes one day when they’re big and famous.
