MISSION5 - CIPHER
A cipher is a way of disguising the alphabet. In this case we’ve used what’s known as a ‘substitution alphabet’. This involves taking a keyword, let’s say its SHOT, then putting that word at the front of the alphabet and shifting-up all the unused letters behind it. So the substituted alphabet would now look like this:
SHOTABCDEFGIJKLMNPQRUVWXYZ
Then, under the substituted alphabet you place the normal alphabet:
SHOTABCDEFGIJKLMNPQRUVWXYZ
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
Now you can see that the letter A from the normal alphabet (bottom) has been substituted by the the letter S in the substitution alphabet (top). The trick then to knowing the order of the substitution alphabet is knowing the KEYWORD. So here’s the challenge, look at the stereogram below for the KEYWORD (click on the image to enlarge it) Then, once you’ve spotted the keyword, do what I’ve shown you above to create the substitution alphabet and then decode the following message. When you have the message…enter it into the text entry box below.
So…here comes the coded transmission. Ready?

Good luck!
