THE CANDLE MAN

candlemanSo, provided we aren’t all killed in a horrible and bizarre way this year, there will be three novels being released by me in 2012.

February 6th – TimeRiders5: THE GATES OF ROME

April 26th – THE CANDLE MAN

July – TimeRiders6: (subtitle to be confirmed)

I thought, dear TimeReaders, I’d draw your attention to THE CANDLE MAN for several specific reasons. Before I specify those, it’s perhaps appropriate that I mention this book really should be for adult eyes only.

It’s grisly. I mean re-e-eally grisly. Seriously. I know my readership includes people as young as nine or ten. So, if it’s mum or dad reading this blog entry, a friendly warning from me – this is definately NOT a book to buy for your offspring. I wouldn’t want my son to read this at that age. He’s 13 now…I probably still wouldn’t want him reading this. Trust me.

Now, for those specific reasons I draw this book to your attention:

Firstly…because it deals with the JACK THE RIPPER story, from a very interesting perspective. Namely, from the Ripper’s point of view. A very unsettling experience writing this particular book I can tell you. Unsettling, but revealing. The character in question is one I ended up quite liking. Really not sure what that says about me!

Secondly…THE CANDLE MAN is set in the same time as the TimeRiders book I’m writing right now, book 6. I’m talking – the autumn/winter of 1888. Not only that, it’s set in the same goshdarn city as the Ripper murders. Which of course opens the door to the distinct possibility that somewhere in the background of this dark – nay…horrifying book – one might possibly spot a vaguely familiar character going about his/her work!
