FILMING FOR THE NEW TIMERIDERS TRAILER!

Last weekend we had fun on location shooting some scenes for the upcoming trailer for the second TimeRiders book; Day of the Predator. My son, his friend, my niece, her boyfriend and my wife helped out as the cast members. Poor things…I really should have warned them they’d have their clothes ripped and shredded, that they’d be covered in mud and fake blood. That they’d have to crawl through a wet wood, scramble through brambles and nearly break their necks tearing around a wood in the middle of the night!
But…you know, I think they had fun. Really.
There’s going to be a fair amount of computer graphics in this trailer again. I wish I had access to some decent compositing software that would allow me to combine digicam footage with graphics; the sort of thing the District 9 did very well. Unfortunately I can’t do that, so it’s a case of having seperate digicam footage and sequences of graphics and editing them tightly so that they come thick and fast and sort of…well…hopefully gel.
Then of course, there’s the music. That’s quite possibly the single most important element of a trailer, imho. The right music and you need to do so much less with the visuals to make your point. The wrong music and no matter how good your visuals are, it’s a fail. So, I shall be hitting my music studio again to knock up some more stuff. Not quite sure yet what to go with…rocky guitary thrashy, or spooky creepy. Hmmm, need to mull that one over.
Meantime folks, here’s a few production shots from the trailer. Enjoy!
