SOMETHING TO SAY!
If you’ve read TimeRiders and enjoyed it, this is a plea from me, the author, to ask you to reccomend it to a friend or two. Even if you mention it in passing it to just one person today…that’s a big help to me. That’s how word-of-mouth starts out.
Yes, it’s an incredibly selfish plea…I want the series to be successful and I’d love to write many, many more of these books. And so far, I’ve every reason to be pleased with how well TimeRiders has done. But this is also an opportunity for us as a community of book lovers to get something actually interesting up there, front and centre before the eyeballs of the general public.
‘Alternative history? Wazzat then? Some sorta multiple choice ’istory quiz innit?’ That’s pretty much what you’ll get from the general public as it grazes over the centre tables at the front of store piled high with ‘literary’ offerings from various Celebrity Chefs, Footballers wives, the Z-list celebs now turning their hand to this booky-wooky writing thing.
Grrr. I’m ranting again. (Note to self – tea, not coffee in the mornings)
Anyway…point is. We could make TimeRiders a big, BIG, thing. We could convince a generation of boys, and dads who only ever read Top Gear Magazine or The Sun, that there’s an amazing ride to be had out there between the covers of a book; infinite worlds of what-might-have-been history. ‘What If’ discussions don’t need to be the preserve of historians and writers of academic essays. They could just as easily be a discussion between to boys in a playground, or two men in a pub!
So, if at some point today you find yourself in one of those really embarressing-pregnant-pause moments with absolutely no idea for a subject of conversation….you could of course put that silence to good use and fill it with a plug for TimeRiders?

said... Hey Alex loved the book, was truly incredibly written. Couldn't honestly put it down till i'd finished it.... my schoolwork did suffer for a couple of days but hey ho that's life i suppose =D What i loved about it was the fact that it actually got you thinking what could happen if people mucked around with time... and all that shiz... was something new and exciting which hasn't really been explored in books before.. that i know of =) What i really want to know is.... do you plan to try getting into contact with film makers... 'cause this could honestly take off as a big hit... really looking forward to the next one about dinosaurs, looks immense! May have to go and try your other novels now seeing as this was so great! Keep up the good work buddy (wish i had an Uncle like you) Shim
said... Hi Shim Glad you enjoyed it! For your info', TimeRiders is being looked at by a couple of film producers. It all depends on how successful the books are. Early days yet, but hopefully this bodes well for a movie. As for the next one....yup....it's a pretty grisly, dark, scary sequel. Damned good fun to write too. I'm just, as I write this, planning out the trailer for it! Gonna be a blast doing that.
said... Sounds awesome! Not to be cheeky or anything... but if they do decide to get a movie deal going... think you could post audition places and dates for budding actors such as myself. Just thought if you don't ask you don't get =) The sequel sounds brilliant... any ideas when the book will be hitting the shop so i can pre-order it? And look forward to seeing the new trailer =) I'm going out today and buying a couple of your other books and get myself going on them. Thanks for writing back... most can't be bothered =)
said... Hi Alex, my daughter bought me a copy of Time Riders for mothers day (last week) and I have just this morning finished it. Thank you for such an excellent book, I really enjoyed it and it is one I will recommend to others. Really looking forward to the next one. Don't forget to market to us ladies too and at 52 years of age it is not a book that only interests the young. I wish you great success with Time Riders. Cheers Jane
said... Um, hello Mr. Scarrow. Can I draw fanart of this lovely awesome book that is TimeRiders? I've been itching to draw them ever since I've first picked up the book.
said... Nick, of course you can! I'd love to see what you come up with. Tell you what....send me what you create using the 'submission form' on one of the 'Missions pages', and then if it's cool, I'll post it up on this website. Sound good to you? all the best Alex
said... Thank you Mr. Scarrow, I'll be sure to upload it as soon as I can.
said... Being an adult of 26 years of age, i found this book immensely readable. Just could not put it down. Its the first book that i have read that asks the question what if people changed history and therefore the future and then the present. A very solid entry to what could be a very successful series of books. Keep up the good work.
said... hi alex can you tell me please if there was a film made of this wonderful book/s do you have anyone in mind who you would like to play the parts? would you even sell the books? or would you prefere a tv series based on your books/s?
