School Visit
I Visited Forest Hill School for Boys on thursday. What a wonderful bunch of lads. Really smart kids. I did a short talk about TimeRiders and then showed them the trailer, followed by a gameshow-style history quiz, which was a helluva lot of fun. Lots of fingers-on-buzzers mayhem and screamed answers. It’s interesting to see how much non-curriculum history the boys seemed to know. Perhaps stuff picked up from movies and dramas, perhaps some computer games….perhaps even off reading TimeRiders. But the point is…I was VERY impressed at their span of knowledge. Smart guys these. If every class were filled with stirling chaps like these I could be tempted into the world of teaching (except, that is, for all that bleedin’ paperwork….sheeesh)
Oh, and it was good to see their reaction to the trailer, which once again has demonstrated how effective some well-deployed graphics are in selling an idea. One of the fellas asked me if that was a trailer for the movie! Hmmm….a movie would be kinda cool. Fingers crossed.
Fun, damned good fun.
